The DE450 Windows 95 drivers (DC21X4.SYS or DE450.SYS) most certainly should handle enabling/disabling of multicast addresses. Post a note in NOTED::ETHERWORKS if you believe this problem follows the DE450. /l

Check out the parameters for the network adapter... is there a limit to the number of multicasts that can be enabled? This is the typical problem when that error message is reported. The other is a hardware problem. Jeff

In perfect filtering mode, the DE450 should handle no less than 14 multicast addresses. In hashing mode, it can support an unlimited number of multicast addresses. However, I believe NDIS itself limits the multicast address table to something like 32 addresses. - Larry

Right, but someone may have lowered the default value in NDIS. jeff

>>Right, but someone may have lowered the default value in NDIS. I'd be curious to know how. There might be a Registry keyword to tell NDIS to lower the multicast address table list per interface, but I don't know of one. If anyone knows of this keyword (name, type, arguments), please post a note here. - Larry |
