I have just installed Pathworks 32 on several customer pc's which run Win95 and use Longshine networks cards(LCS-8634P)which are supposed to be NE2000 compatible. Netbeui and ipx load fine but decnet does not. On boot-up they come up with Error 59: A Network error has occured. The following errors are also put in the PW's log DNP0056E cannot start decnet. Adapter Network address is not set to AA0004006654 I have checked the protocol.ini and it has an entry line NetAddress=AA00... From what I have read certain N/W cards do not support network address override or it may just be another setting in the protocol.ini Has anyone come accross this problem with this card or any other and any suggestions welcome. Thanks Sean

Not sure how much (if any) this helps, but heres what I find in the ms error number include files for error 59: WSAETOOMANYREFS (if its socket related) ERROR_UNEXP_NET_ERR (the 'general' case) off hand, Id guess the second, but am not too sure what to do about either. --roger | |||||

the fix is to find a network card/driver that supports the required functions. If the station address can't be set, DECnet can't run. it's mentioned in the SPD, I believe, and certainly in the release notes. |
