| He does not have the proper license. PWXXWINAT07 _ONLY_ grants the
right to use the client software. See the extensive discussion on this
in (all?) the PATHWORKS notesfiles especially JAMIN::PATHWORKS32 and in
the recent Sales Update magazine and a TIMA/STARS article (search the
PATWORKS database for "LICENSE MARCH" and
http://simba.alf.dec.com/desk/archive.htm and probably other places as
well...

All of these licenses include the right to connect a single PC to
any number of PATHWORKS V5.0 or earlier LAN Manager servers:
File and Print Access (FPA) PWLMXXXFP05.00
Designated Access (DA) PWLMXXXFP05.00 (Yes, same as for FPA)
Combined Client and Server (CCS)
DOS&Windows V5.0 CCS PWLMDOSCC05.00
DOS&Windows V5.1 CCS PWLMDOSCC05.01
DOS&Windows V6.0 CCS PWLMDOSCC06.00
WinNT V4.1 CCS PWLMWNTCC04.01

| all those that John mentions contain the right needed. If they were
purchasing new licenses, the smartest thing to do would be to get the
FPA - it grants only that right and is the least expensive.

If he does not want to have any DIGITAL software on the PC he
will have to change over to "PC Concurrent" licenses (formerly
known as "File and Print Services" (FPS) or "Concurrent Use"
licenses).
PATHWORKS V5.0 for OpenVMS (LAN Manager) PWLMVMSCU05.00
PATHWORKS V5.0 for DIGITAL UNIX (LAN Manager) PWLMOSFCU05.00
These licenses are available in various sizes and allow
a fixed number of client systems to connect at one time.
No additional software is needed on the client machine
when using these licenses.
