Hi,
My customer has over 300 PCs using pathwork connect to pathwork VMS
server. Majority of PCs are window95 with pw95 1.0a. Yesterday, all
window95 PC (only w95) get a blue screen with message:
"An exception 06 has occurred at 0028:00000015b in Vxd. This is
called from 0028:c0041d4c in Vxd (NDIS)(01) + 000000d7c "
The PCs hang. After reboot, These PC work find, and are able connect
to pathwork server. This is second time I saw this problem on this
customer site. The PCs are in different brands, and using about three
kinds of network cards.
Can anybody tell me what happens, or how should I troubleshoot the
problem?
Thanks in advance.

PRODUCT: PATHWORKS[TM] for Windows[R] 95, Version 1.0 & 1.0A
OP/SYS: Microsoft[R] Windows 95
SOURCE: Digital Equipment Corporation
PROBLEM:
After installing PATHWORKS for Windows 95 on a Digital Venturis[TM] PC, the
following error occurs at startup:
Fatal Exception 06 has occurred at <hexaddress>
SOLUTION:
Remove DMI drivers from CONFIG.SYS, AUTOEXEC.BAT and the Startup group
folder in Windows 95.
CONFIG.SYS entry is \DMI\SLFIX.SYS
AUTOEXEC.BAT entry is \DMI\DOS\BIN\SL.EXE
Start -> Settings -> Taskbar -> Start Menu Programs -> Remove ->
-> (StartMenu) -> Programs -> Startup -> DMI
ANALYSIS:
The DMI drivers are installed on Digital PCs from the factory. DMI stands
for Desktop Management Interface and allows remote inventory of network
PC configuration. The version shipped is not compatable with PATHWORKS
for Windows 95. Call the CSC for information on an update to DMI if DMI
functionality is needed.
