620.0. "Help with WNT server tools." by TAV02::YORAM (Yoram Finder ISO, DTN:882-3073) Thu Feb 20 1997 08:20

Hi,

I'll appreciate any help on the following subject:

I'm using the NT server tools on my PW95 client to set file/dir permissions
on an NTFS file systems on PWOSF/WNT advance servers. My problem is that it
works from one PC but not from another. I'm using the same priv account on both
PCs. I can brows the server get to the resource (dir/file) using the Explorer
and when I get to the property dialbox and select "security" I get the three
options (Permission, Auditing, Ownership) but none of them seems to work on the
fault PC!. I just click on one of the options but nothing happens. I traced the
LAN while doing so and see that nothing is being transmitted from the fault PC.

I tried it on PWOSF v6.1 and on WNT v4.0. I got the same results. The PC that
works, works fine for PWOSF and WNT.

From this behavior I get to the conclusion that the problem is in the PC. Just
to add some more details, I'm using WIN95 Hebrew Enable (4.00.950r-7) on all
PCs (including the one that works).

The NT server tools where installed from ASTOOLS share on my pwosf v6.1 server.

Thanks in advance,
Yoram Finder,
MCS-Israel.

Check your PATH - the one that works probably has your ASTOOLS
directory in it, the one that doesn't probably doesn't.

See also dir/title=astool in the pwosf notesfile
