The Client site where I'm currently assigned is experiencing the following situation. We are have been unable to see a V1.0c server from some of the clients. I believe that this situation is has somehow been caused by the presence of a Novell V4.1 server on the network. Before the addition of the V4.1 server there was never any problem seeing the Vax based server from any of the clients. The only thing that the vax server had been used for was to store some installation kits that did not have very high usage so this was not a problem. When they ran into the situation where they could not see the server they just installed from floppies. We recently migrated some Database applications from this Vax to an Alpha. This has freed up system resources and the customer would like to expand the use of this server and unfortunately the problem of not being able to see the Vax based server is beggining to occur more frequently. Has any one run into a situation like this before? Any Ideas? Thanx in advance, Ken

There were some bugs that got fixed a year or so ago that might explain that behavior. V1.0C is very old. (V1.0E is the latest kit.) I'd start by upgrading to the latest bits and see if the problem persists. Dave |
