2145.0. "memory registration on NW4.10" by CGOOA::SMCLEAN () Wed May 28 1997 14:58
I have a client that has a Prioris ZX5133/2 and Novell Netware 4.10
with 256MB of RAM. He is having a problem registering memory as
discribed below.
Cross posted in the Prioris Conference as 273.0
Any Ideas?
Thanks Steve...

P.S. himem.sys is not loaded in the config.sys
The client has spoken with Novell, Novell has told him it is either a
BIOS or hardware issue and to call the HW manufacturer.
I have asked the client to provide a CONFIG report, if I can not
resolve soon I will escalate to eng.
Problem:
Netware 4.10 console gives following message when trying to mount a
drive/cdrom/nfs_drive, Cache memory allocator out of available memory
Presently I am registering memory above 16Mbytes manually, and this
reports ~ 256Mb RAM.
Novell TID2905552 states that one should *NOT* register memory
manually, as it causes fragmentation.
When I do not register memory manually, I Netware only sees 74,991K
RAM.
This is not good.
In speaking with a Novell engineer, it was suggested that I
contact DEC to see if there is a BIOS update.
Any help would be appreciated.
NOTES:
256 Mbytes RAM
Bios 1.00.07.BG0
Netware 4.10 (all but very latest patches installed)
