2127.0. "Need your help !!!" by VAXRIO::63228::Asouza (Andre Langkjer - DIGITAL CSC-Brazil) Thu Feb 20 1997 11:00

Hi,

	I have a customer that has a problem with a Seagate ST14207N
(4.2Gb).

	Errors appears on the disk frequently. He recover the disk and it
looks like good, but after some time the problem appear again.

	He has changed the disk, and the motherboard, but it isn't
resolved.

	He has NetWare 4.10, with 50 users, 48Mb of memory, he is using a
3com adapter, and it isn't with SFP3. The video adapter is Cirrus Logic
1Mb. The PC is a Prioris XL 5133, his BIOS version is 2.07, and the version
of AIC7870 driver is 2.08.

	I ask him to set the switch in the SCSI Utility (EXTENDED BIOS
TRANSLATION FOR DOS DRIVERS > 1Gb) to off, he did, but the problem is still
there.

	Does anybody have any idea ???

	Thanks...

						Andre Langkjer.

2127.2Check the drive firmwareNETRIX::"[email protected]"Adrian MooreSun Mar 02 1997 15:1615
Hi,

One thing to check is the drive firmware revision. Look on SUBSYS:: for the
listing (by Digital model #).

I had this problem on several sites mid last year and all were resolved by
flashing the drives to the current rev firmware.

Also, if it is an Adaptec controller then check out the tag_disable=ffff
option.

Adrian Moore
