Help, I may not be understanding this correctly but as I can see...
There is a network printer on a ethernet network.
From what you say the printer uses IP (and posibley IPX).
If all you want to do is print from the VMS system to the networked
printer, why do you want to involve the netware box. The VMS operating
system (with UCX) will allow printing to a TCPIP network printer. This
will work with DEC printers as well other printers if this is what you
want to do.
If you are desparate to use the novell box PW Netware will allow you to
print from VMS to netware printers.

| Hi,
Just to give more info:
The server runs Novell Netware 4.1, together with Novell TCP/IP
Transport 4.2.
The printer is an HP Deskjet 1600CM with the HP JetDirect module.
I wish I could go directly via UCX LPD to the printer, but I don't
think the JetDirect supports it.
So, my only option would be to use some software that would go through
the Novell Print Services, right ? I'm not very familiar with
Pathworks as well. Should I install it on the Novell Server, in
the Alpha VMS machine or in both sizes ? What licenses would be
necessary to make it work ?
Any comments are very welcomed.
