Attention - Dads Sept 96 Good Housekeeping Article I happened to be at someone's house yesterday and while waiting for my girlfriend to get ready to go out I got a chance to quickly scan what seemed to be a very in-depth article about Divorced Dads fighting the custody laws in several states (most notebly MA & NJ) for equalizing the money despite having Non-Custodial status. In essense making the $$ match the time spent with the kids. Since I didn't have time to read the whole thing nor could I take the magazine I can't put the whole thing in here but I would recommend it for reading as it debunked quite a few of the 'accepted' statistics regarding newly divorced parents relative standards-of-living and income in the first few years. One outstanding one was that the NC's income and SOL goes down by a whopping 72% in the first year after a divorce! Another intersting proposal that a divorced dad has officially made is to have a special debit card that the NC would contribute his custody payments to that the CP could draw on for necessities of the kids and the detailed reports sent to the NCP so s/he could be assured that the money was going to support the kids instead of the X's lifestyle. Regards, Chuck
