382.0. "LOOKING FOR LAWYER (OFF-LINE)" by QUOKKA::3149::BALBONI () Fri Mar 22 1996 07:00

My husband is a NCP looking for a EXCELLENT lawyer in the
Worcester, MA area. He is in the process of going
for custody of his son. I am not going to go into
detail of the situation, but he has documented information
    dated back to 1991.

He realizes this is going to be a touch battle,
    but willing to try.

Please contact me off line if you know of a lawyer
that might be able to help him.

    Thanks in advance.

    Denise

I don't live in the area, so can't help with lawyer other than to
warn him that finding a good lawyer for this type of thing can be
    a tough process in itself.

I wish him luck, and congratulate him for having a partner like you
to stand by him in what is sure to be some tough times.

I too wish you both lots of luck. I do not have a lawyer referral
for you for the Worcester area, but a lawyer "WARNING". If you should
happen upon an attorney Michael Wilcox - do NOT contract his services
unless you plan on learning the legal process yourself to do his job
    for him.
I have a friend that's been divorced almost a year now. She is the CP.
Her -ex had NO lawyer during their divorce, and Wilcox did a lame job
considering the lack of opposition. For a $1500 fee for 2 appearances
in court, he didn't even perform the obvious tasks until my friend
brought them to his attention. She often went weeks to a month before
    he'd return her calls!
She recently found out the hard way that her lawyer never followed
thru with a wage attachment for Dad (he's been transferring the $$$
himself - and this week decided to stop!) And other standard paperwork
that is filed after a divorce was never done. So rather than resolve the
situation, Wilcox' answer was another court appearance and more $$$ from
her - to re-litigate issues that are already spelled out in the divorce.
When I tried to speak to him as she was so upset she was trembling,
I was hung up on twice, and the 3rd time ordered to leave my name, and
that they would contact Digital about my death threat to his secretary!
Thank God I had 4-5 people around me during this whole fiasco to
witness. They couldn't believe a lawyer could behave this way! Each
conversation was about 3 words long on my end before I was hung up on.
They started with me explaining that these problems are the result
of work not done by their office, and then a click at the other end.

Anyways, these times are hell enough as it is. Take the time and
make SURE you have someone that's on YOUR SIDE.

     -Karen
