I am generally a read only person, but, something has come up with a friend of mine. any advice or replys appriciated. Here it is, she had been living with an older man for about two years. He decided to have a vasectomy because he didnt want any more children, since he already had on boy from his previous marriage. the older boy is one year older than my friend. any way abuot two years into the relationship she gets pregnant and he tells here to get out of his life because the baby couldnt be his because he had a vasectomy. what i would like to know is if any other person has delt with this sort of sittuation before. meaning the guy has a vasectomy and the girl still gets pregnant he tells her its not his and to get out of his life. she is in the proccess of filing for child support and taking him to court for the blood test for paternity. what she would like is any info on this subject. appriciate any help.

There are blood tests and DNA tests that can confirm within a reasonable amount of certainty that he is the parent or not. They can also do a sperm count to determine if there is a problem with the vasectomy. Depending on the type of vasectomy he had, it can come untied. Suing the doctor that performed the vasectomy may or may not be an option. Usually you have to sign a release stating that you understand what _might_ happen. Unless the doctor just plain didn't tie off one tube or something, they probably would not have a case. He is probably upset because he thinks she must have had an affair or something to get pregnant. After all, he's supposed to be "safe". fred(); | |||||

This is *real* late, but according to my fiance's doctor, a vasectomy needs to be "tested" every 6 months, to make sure it didn't reverse itself. Laura |
