Just thought I would open up a new note for Karen's concerns. Kinda good to keep it out of the intro note, I think. My take on this is that the situation sounds reasonably stable. It also sounds pretty fair that you are not paying him since he did not pay you for a long time. The thing with the state is one of those "go fight town hall" issues. Since it is minimal, it is probably cheaper and easier to let it go. As to whether or not you should pay support now? Well, that seems to me to be a really personal issue. Can you afford to make your sons life better, does he really need it, and do you want to? As for NCPs not paying, it depends a whole lot on the circumstances. If they are supposed to or are needed to and don't, then I get a might riled up. Otherwise, I just hope you keep your son's welfare in mind. I also sympathize over the behavior of your son and its affects on you. Kids can be hell, even pretty good ones. Hugs jimc

Thank you Jim for opening up this note. I do keep my son's welfare first, I pay for all the little incidentals, guitar lessons, clothes, etc. I do not send the money to my ex, but to his mother, that way I know my son gets it. My son has calmed down considerably since living there and I *KNOW* that it is the best thing for him. I guess the only thing I would ask at this point is should I go after my ex for my back support? At times it feels like I should, because it is rightfully mine and at other times I wonder, why bother. If I could get the court to issue an order where just his income tax refunds were sent to me, I would be happy. Any comments? Karen | |||||

They are your due for managing the care and feeding of your son. As long as you use it for him I see no reason why it should not be collected as the court has ordered. |
