| have you seen topic .57? there are a few discussions on blades there.
the best part of shaving for me is putting on the aftershave: a fresh start
to the day!
happy easter everybody and go easy on the chocolates!

| I use gillete trac II disposable razors, one shave one razor once a
week. Sometimes i'll shave twice in a week but only under duress.
Noxema shaving soap with badger fur brush. I use a little hydrogen
peroxide after i shave, it doesn't reek like after shave and doe a good
job sealing up any nasty cuts.

| I recently switched to a Braun foil shaver after my Norelco died (it was,
I think, my third Norelco - all of which have suffered premature battery
failure). I've used foil shavers in the past (Remington), but thought it would
be interesting to see how I liked them now. I also liked the Braun's
Nickel-Metal-Hydride battery which should perform better and outlast the
Nickel-Cadmium battery in the Norelco (as well as being better environmentally.)
I'm finding the Braun shaves closer than the Norelco, but I have to work more
at it - it takes me longer to shave and I have to keep going back for
missed spots. I do like the trimmer on the Braun - no Norelco I've ever
owned had a decent trimmer.

| I get at least 2-3 weeks out of my blades. I use BIC or whatever is
handy at the check out register. Blades last for ever, until
wife/daughter use them for legs. Then, it's like shaving with my saw.
I have not used shaving cream in years and years. I use plain old
soap. I get a closer shave and don't have to worry carrying large
shaving cream cans.

About the distaff side of the family using one's razor, please
get them their own handle and let them use the blades once thou
hast finished on thy face. The blades are still good for legs
and underarms once the male face has taken its toll on them.
This is recycling at its best. But, make sure a handle for the
tub is available and a container for the face blades are avail-
able. For some reason, the shaving companies feel that lady's
legs and armpits are delicate and need a lightweight blade and
handle. Phooooie...
I find that I get a better shave after a hot steaming shower and
using a shot of shave cream with a male blade. Faster, easier,
and cleaner.
