$10 including tip. Seems like a lot but I do get a good haircut.

I tried that once but was told it costs extra when they have to go

| The place I go charges $12 for men, $16 and up for women. This
disparity seems to be rather common. The guy who cuts my hair
will usually spend upwards of 40 minutes on it (not that I do anything
fancy with it, but my hair is thick and is difficult to cut), and
I think the money is well spent. I've been to the $8 places a number
of times, and though sometimes I can get a good cut, often I don't,
and I'd rather pay a bit more for consistency.

I currently pay $5 for a cut and $1-2-3 for a tip depending on quality

BTW, I used to go to more upscale places (real barber shops?) but I
got tired of being told the same old lines, "You'll never go bald"
"Wow, your hair's as thick as a horses tail" "You really should get
your hair cut more often" "You should treat your hair with this stuff"
etc., etc.

What do you get for $50 that I don't get for $10? My hair looks
just the way I want it. And my wife is pleased with it as well.
What more can a guy ask for from a hair cut.
And if and when it goes it goes. It's no great loss. Hair is
generally more trouble than it's worth. Yes it was nice when it
was thick enough to keep off the sun and in the heat but it's
thining out has everything to do with genetics and nothing worth
speaking about to do with who and how it was cut.

Over the years I've let a few barbers trim my beard, and without
fail every one of them have messed it up. They cut it so short that
it looks like I'm just starting to grow it again. Only I trim it now.

| I went to a technical school that also had a barber college,
Milwaukee Area Technical College. Needless to say, being a
poverty-stricken student, I got all my haircuts there. At that time
(1968-1970), they also taught shaving and after the student barber
talked me into trying my first barbershop shave, I was hooked! Pure
unadulterated self-indulgence (sigh)!
I asked my barber (who, incidentally, gets $7 for a haircut) why he
doesn't offer shaves and he said that there is (1) a lack of demand,
(2) extra overhead in the way of a steam cabinet and towels. The main
issue, I expect, is a lack of demand. If only all men knew what they
were missing, I expect demand would skyrocket.
