I'll second the Fitchburg tailor Marios's on upper main street
Fitchburg. He is excellent and reasonable, especially good for suits,
slacks and jackets.
Since we're on the subject, I'm looking for a Leather repair shop to
hel me with a leather jacket I have which needs a new zipper and if
possible the elastic material around waist and sleeves needs replacing
as well. After a good ten years it's now just brocken in just right,
but the elastizised cloth need replacing.
Does anyone know of a good leather worker?

574.6 | Recommendation for tailor-made clothing | CALLME::MR_TOPAZ | | Thu Oct 01 1992 13:48 | 17 |
| For anyone who has trouble finding clothes that fit properly, I
can recommend Ash Samtani, a tailor from Hong Kong. They have
made excellent stuff for me; the fit has been superb, and the
materials and workmanship have consistently met high standards.
Samtani's son Luke makes 2 or 3 trips to the US each year, and he
sees people by appointment. (They don't advertise in newspapers
-- just word of mouth.) If you order from them in during a US
visit, you get your clothes in about 4-8 weeks. Suits go for
about $300 and up; he'll also make sport coats, slacks, and
shirts. I got a flyer in the mail yesterday saying that Samtani
will be in Boston on Oct 16th at the Copleyt Marriott
(617-236-5800) -- anyone interested in making an appointment with
him might give him a call Oct 14th (after 2pm) or 15th at the
Atlanta Marriott (401-521-0000).

574.7 | I agree! | MORO::BEELER_JE | Unity without uniformity! | Fri Oct 02 1992 21:39 | 7 |
| I've been buying all of my suits and shirts from Samtani for many years
and can most assuredly 2nd the recommendation in the previous note.
Additionally, upon request he'll send samples and you can have the
suits made and shipped to you (as your measurements are kept on file).

574.8 | No suit today...just a tear | SALEM::KUPTON | I got Skeeels too! | Thu Oct 08 1992 15:16 | 15 |
| Derry Tailor on Rte 28 heading north just up from Promises to Keep
is an excellent tailor. He's a graduate of the British Tailoring
Institute and does real nice work cheap. I had a leather coat relined
with a quilted lining last year. All hand stitched...$70. Pants that
need to be hemmed are $4-7 and he repaired a severely torn pair of my
daughter's jeans for $7.
He extremely expensive for suits. Average $2000. I've never had one
done..8^). He does alot of work for the extremely priviledged like the
Kennedy's, Burt Lancaster, and he has an album of people like Sinatra
and famous women whom he does business suits for. He's also done work
for the royal family. His name is Ken Chudnoy. He does do some pretty
impressive stuff.......
