381.0. "Looking for an experienced Facilitator " by ATSE::KATZ () Fri Oct 13 1989 15:18

I know of a men's group which is starting up soon, but it is looking around for
an experienced facilitator. The site of the group is Nashua, NH. Does anyone
know of any facilitators in this region, who have led groups of this type ?

thanks

381.2Men's Group looking for FacilitatorATSE::KATZMon Oct 16 1989 11:295
The group is currently brainstorming topics of interest. However it sounds like
it will be directed towards considering Men's issues like child-rearing, feminism,
divorce, relationships to parents. This should not be a therapy group, although
sensitive issues will no doubt emerge. If you have had an experience with a group
like this your comments about the facilitator would be welcomed.

       The group I've been a part of for about two years now first began
       with a "interest" topic, but eventually drifted to a "hot spot"
       driven discussion.

       In this group, there is an implied (stated) trust level of
       confidence. I can' speak for the other members, but I can tell
       you how we work things out.

       There is no one facilitator, since the issues affect all of us in
       one way or another. If you need/want more information about
       this, contact me directly.

       If you want a "Driven" discussion there is a group (and I'm
       trying to remember their name) on North Main Street in Nashua
       that provides material (for a nominal fee) for self motivated
       groups, and provides support. The headquarters for this
       organization (non denominational) is on Main Street (Nashua, in
       the large white building (old large house) near the intersection
       of Main and Manchester Street, across from the First Church and
       the Mobile Gas Station (about 200 feet from the Soldiers
       Monument) .. Well, i can't remember their name, but I know where
       they are at. My dentist is right near there also in the old
       brownstone.)

       The Catholic Church "used" to have a 'course' called (something
       like) the Christian Family Movement (CFM). The materials were
       primarily designed for Parents to interact with other parents
       while being faced with their own shortcomings. One especially
       good segment I recall was (for week 4): What we teach our
       children. Week 5 was : What our children LEARN from us by
       observing what we DO (emphasis mine).

       There is (was) "something like" a Catholic Resource Center on
       Hollis Street, but the course was "a while back", like 1974).
