Well Ron, I'd say let the "ole lady" watch her Oscars, and
you could hit the local pub with the boys to check out the
game. That way everyone's happy, you both get a break from
tension.

86.4 | A VCR. | GENRAL::FRASHER | An opinion for any occasion | Tue Mar 31 1987 12:48 | 9 |
| How about a VCR? The only problem with watching a game the next
day is that everyone you meet tells you how the game went, who won,
who did what, etc. But, with movies, we record one and watch the
other, then watch the first one at our leasure, which is usually
about 2 months later. In February, we were watching Christmas movies.
As far as sports goes, we'd rather go skiing.

86.5 | even had to teach them to drink beer... | KLAATU::THIBAULT | Swimmers Do It Wetter | Tue Mar 31 1987 13:16 | 5 |
| Isn't that interesting. I have 3 big brothers, and when I was growing up
I was always the one who "claimed" the tv on Sunday so I could watch the
Giants. What can I say, I tried to bring them up right...

| Well, I taped last night's game, but that is so I can watch it
over and over and over again.

The idea about going out to see the game is great! Going to a
friend's house or to a bar is a great idea.
The only other idea that I can think of is...reserving the TV in
advance. The NCAA final is not just any game (similarly, NBA finals,
the Superbowl, the World Series, and so forth) and you know at least a
few weeks in advance when the game will be held. If you tell your SO
a week in advance that you want to watch the game on Monday night,
then that gives you a whole week to work out compromises in case of a
conflict. (This is a pretty big conflict since both events only
happen once a year.) It's only when it's five minutes to game/oscar
time and when you try to make a last minute decision that feelings get
hurt.

86.12 | Not every interest | LEZAH::RANDERSON | | Tue Mar 31 1987 15:22 | 9 |
| re 9
Two people are not going to have the exact same interests, no matter
how compatible. If you want to watch a game on TV, that dosen't
mean you've lost interest in anybody - it means you're a sports
fan, amony other things...that doesn't mean that's the only thing
you do. She's interested in selling tupperware, but that's not
one of my interests. Thats fine. There are a lot of other things
we both are interested in, but we're not clones.

| Todd, say hi for me to the guys at the bar.
Suzanne, how's about you and I getting together for a half-time?:*)
Seriously, my ex-wife never liked sports. but she did tolerate
my addiction to the Patriots. I watched other sports, but not very
much until it came down to the playoffs.

86.18 | Look ... don't insult other noters! | RSTS32::COFFLER | Jeff Coffler | Mon Apr 06 1987 02:11 | 16 |
| Note 86.17 (along with 87.5) was set hidden by the moderator.
Please, people. I will not allow notes that are personally insulting
to other noters. Take your insults elsewhere (SOAPBOX or MAIL).
Calling somebody a jerk, or calling people stupid are not appropriate
behavior in this notesfile. If you insist, at least do it with tact.
If you don't agree with a topic, we'll welcome other opinions. If you
feel that somebody is stupid, sorry, but this public conference is not
the forum to make senseless insults. Please be kind to one another.
I really don't intend to be a 'heavy handed' moderator, and that is not
how I wish to run this conference. I must insist, though, on basic
consideration for others.
