6062.0. "Alpha NT Mirror disk boot problems" by 42080::HARRINGTONM () Mon Jun 02 1997 01:38

I have 3 alpha 4100 - two in an NT Cluster.

I've got NT mirroring the "system"disks and the FAT osloader partition.

The customer dictated the NT mirror.

What I'm trying to do is to set upp the mirror copy boot path, and the
system keeps bug checking. I get :-

    STOP: 0X0000001E (0XC0000006,0X801a5C60,0X00000000,0X77f66390)

    KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

The error comes from ntoskrnl.dll. We were running Nt4.0 + SP2, but I
have added SP3 and still get the same problem. I can reproduce it on
    any of the three machines.

    Any ideas ?

    Many Thanks

    Mark Harrington

P.S. Anyone ever seen ARCserver processes hogging 2 x 300MHz processors
    ? two processes at 48% + 50% !!

I'm not sure from your description, but it sounds like you are
having problems booting from the second disk in the mirror set; the
boot from the first disk (the one you initially installed on) is
working. If this is the case, try 'breaking' the mirror set before
rebooting. I don't think NT recognizes the mirror volume as a
	separate device until something breaks.

6062.2AHH - You're right - Break the mirror first 42080::HARRINGTONMTue Jun 03 1997 00:2512
You're right. To test the "bootability" of the mirror copy you must
break the mirror. I broke the mirror and we booted OK, As I was testing
I was tying to just boot from the disk ..!!

    Many Thanks

P.S. Never found out what was wrong with ARCserve. I re-installed and
it has been OK ever since.
