Hi, My customer have 2 server each configure with NT 4.0 /w SP2. Server A as PDC and server B as BDC with RAS installed. The configuration is as below, (dial up) --------------------------------------- | | | | | M (172.16.16.1) | | M (172.16.16.2) Cisco Router 2511 (172.16.1.253) | | Server B Server A (172.16.9.250) (172.16.1.250) Remote site HQ Subnet is 255.255.255.0 Server B able to ping server A but not vice-versa. Server A could only ping to the point of 172.16.16.2 ( modem for server B). Any input on how to rectify this problems are appreciated. Thank you . [Posted by WWW Notes gateway]

when you dial in to an NT network using RAS, your modem acts like a NIC card. The ip address of the server on the remote lan is irrelevant. do you have the ras server hand out ip address's for the remote nodes, or do you use a DHCP scope?. chris | |||||

Hi, Thank you for your suggestion, actually I have set the ip address static, instead of using DHCP. After going thru some testing, I have found out that a parameter in Winnt registry has to be modify. The parameter is located in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE subtree under the following subkey: \system\CurrentControlSet\Services\RasArp\Parameters Change the default setting from 1 to 0. Then the system will be able to route the packet from the com port to the ethernet port. [Posted by WWW Notes gateway] |
