6043.0. "Event 3012, An unexpected network error occurred on the virtual circuit to PCNAME" by CTHU22::M_MORIN (Mario Morin, Hull CSC - Canada) Tue May 27 1997 08:18
We and a customer are seeing the following error being logged on what
appears to be an unregular basis:
System Event Log
Event: 3012
Source: Rdr (redirector)
Type: Warning
An unexpected network error occurred on the virtual circuit
to [SOME-PC-NAME]
WHere SOME-PC-NAME is the name of some Win95 PCs.
This error is logged sometimes during the day, sometimes during the
night when we know there's no activity on those W95 systems. It
appears the server is doing some kind of circuit validation to the
W95 PC's in question. The only correlation that we found on the PC's
for which the error is logged is that they are in a different workgroup
than the server. These PC's also don't appear to necessarily be
connecting to shares on the server. Users have stated that they are not
doing this.
Our customer is on NT 3.51 SP5 and we're on NT4.0 SP3
We've called Microsoft and they don't know anymore that we do.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
/Mario
