6037.0. "Removing a service" by ADCA01::KISHORI () Sat May 24 1997 05:12

    Hi,

    I have registered and created a service in WNT 4.0. I can see the
    service in the services icon, but I get a access denied error when I
    try to start it. I want to delete this service and create it afresh.
    How do I remove a service ? It must be something to do with registry
    settings, but I'm unable to recollect ? Does anybody know this ??

    Thanks in advance
    Kishori

1) open regedt32.exe.
2) find the service located in:
	HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\???ServiceName???
3) delete the ???ServiceName??? key.
4) reboot.

This will delete the service.

    You can also use the delsrv.exe that is supplied with the resource
    kit..

    Yes, that's what I did to remove the service. Thanks for your response.
