6033.0. "Matrox Millenium on Alpha NT 4.0" by RICKS::KTHISSELL () Thu May 22 1997 12:36

Hi,

I believe there was an optimized driver for the Matrox Millenium on NT 4.0 for Alpha on web site:

http://www.windowsnt.digital.com/support/drivers/drivers.asp

but now it has been removed. Does anyone know where a can obtain a copy of this driver?

Also, is there any information on a Matrox Millenium driver for Alpha NT 4.0 with dual head support. I had
heard rumors there would be such a driver with NT 4.0 SP3 but there is not.

Any info appreciated.

Thanks,

Karen

    Karen,

    	I've used the Matrox web pages to pull off the NT & Win95 drivers:

    	http://www.matrox.com/mgaweb/drivers/ftp_mill.htm.

There is an Alpha-optimized Matrox Millenium driver for NT V4.0 which
has multi-head support, but it was not developed at Matrox.

Mohan Vaghul's Commodity Graphics group out at DECWest developed it.

The web page is:

http://avalon.eng.pko.dec.com/commodity/kits.html

Use only V2.0

Jeff,

Thanks so much ... I'm going to check it out now.

6033.4Nice multihead too, apparentlyBBPBV1::WALLACEjohn wallace @ bbp. +44 860 675093Sat May 24 1997 06:047
    The Digital/Alpha one does multihead with a lot less hassle than the
    x86 one too (according to a demo I saw this week). Shame it's *still*
    not available for wider distribution - customers are going elsewhere
    instead...

6033.5multi-head now available (I think)WRKSYS::HOUSEKenny House, Workstations EngineeringSun May 25 1997 06:0711
    re .4 - bemoaning the lack of official multi-head support on Matrox ...

    Allen Hopkins sent out a note a couple of days ago stating that our
    ALpha-optimized driver for Matrox could be distributed to customers.
    This includes the multi-head support customers have been requesting.

    The Workstation and Colorado web sites were alleged to have pointers to
    the current driver. Sorry to be so cryptic, but I don't have the exact
    URLs for these sites handy.

6033.6Driver pointer - internal only??OTOU01::MAINNSIS Consultant,Canada,621-5078Mon May 26 1997 07:4120

    Well, after a lot of searching, the only place I could find these
    drivers is at the following internal site:
    http://avalon.eng.pko.dec.com/commodity/kits.html

    If someone has posted these drivers to an external WORKSTATION site,
    then they have covered their tracks well .. Again, if they did, why
    did they not post on external workstation site where the other Matrox
    drivers are ?

    Even better, ask Matrox to post on their site at:
    http://www.matrox.com/mgaweb/ftp_mill.htm

    Regards,

    / Kerry

    Sigh ..

6033.7Has it really come out ?BBPBV1::WALLACEjohn wallace @ bbp. +44 860 675093Mon May 26 1997 12:137
    The obvious place to post these would be with the other NT graphics
    drivers, somewhere under www.service.digital.com.

    How does one get that to happen ?

    go to

    	http://www.imc.das.dec.com:9015/products/graphics.htm

    and look towards the bottom of the screen where it says "Matrox
    Optimized Driver for Alpha (includes Multihead) - Download millii.zip"

    The complete URL is

    	http://www.imc.das.dec.com:9015/products/millii.zip

    This is allegedly the version you can give to customers.

    This absolutely, positively drives Customers absolutely crazy !!

    ie. Having to depend on someone from Digital to "get" them the right
    files... they want to do it themselves at a time they choose.

    Is it so difficult to have it posted on one of our external web sites ?

    Again, the best place to put this is to discuss with Matrox and let
    them have the code so they can support it and post it on their site !

    The Matrox site is the 1st place they will go when looking for drivers,
    so why not make it easier for them?

    [tired of hearing about what special efforts Cust's have to do to get
    Alpha sw ..]
