I'm trying to configure a HiNote 535 with NT 4.0. I've encountered a couple of problems getting the network going and I can't figure it out. 1) When it boots, it shows 2 events in the Event Logger. One says that the computer is configured in a workgroup and the Netlogon service does not need to run. The second is an error "The Net Logon service terminated with service-specific error 3095." How do I get rid of the NETLOGON service? I can't find it anywhere. 2) If I boot with the system connected to the network and try to map a network drive it tells me that there is a duplicate name on the network. I've got a fully registered TCP/IP name and address. I can ping it okay, and when I pull the network cable the ping results in a timeout. The only way I've been able to get it to work is if I unplug the cable from the Ethernet card, boot the system, then plug the cable back in. Then mapping network drives is no problem. Is this related to #1? Anyone seen anything like this? Dan B.

I have seen the second problem you list when there is in fact a duplicate address on the net. I would log a call with the local network support group to investigate. Rich | |||||

I really doubt that there is indeed a duplicate name or address out there. I may log a call anyway just to be sure. When I get that error I try pinging that name from another system. I get a response back. I unplug the network cable and ping again. Timeout errors. I've tried ping -a, too. Same result. I only get a response when my system is plugged in. Any ideas on my first question? I still haven't found a way to remove the Netlogon Service. Dan |
