6007.0. "NT 4.0 TLZ09 end of tape problem" by COMICS::JUDD (Geoff Judd. UK TSC. Viables, Basingstoke) Thu May 15 1997 10:23
Hi,
I have a customer with an internal TLZ09 drive on an Alphaserver 1000A running
NT 4.0. The firmware level of the TLZ09 drive is 0167 and the customer is using
120M HP tapes. The customer is using NT backup to save to the tape drive. All is
OK until the end of the tape is reached at which point the tape is ejected and
then the following message is displayed :
'A tape device has been detected and the tape drive started. However the tape
device is not responding, check the tape device is powered on and the cables
are properly connected.'
Subsequently the tape drive cannot be accessed until the system is
rebooted.there are no errors logged in the event log. The 4mm DAT driver has
been re-installed from the Windows NT 4.0 CD and the tape drive has been
replaced but the problem still persists. The only thing that remains is to try a
different type of tape.
Has anyone else seen this problem before or have any ideas as to what is casuing
it ?
Thanks in advance,
Geoff Judd.
