Hello. We have a problem trying to configure LPS17 printers to load off an NT 3.51 server. We installed DECPRINT-LPS v5.1 software on the server and configured an LPS17/600 for a print share and software loading. Printing to share worked fine as did the remote console facility. However when we tried to get the printer to load from the NT box we had no luck. We just get ?54 on the printer panel. When I look at the network activity the printer sends out 8 Ethernet broadcast packets followed by four IP broadcasts. There is no response from the NT box. Also when a DIGTIAL PRISM diagnostic window is opened on the server it continually loops and complains. It specifys the correct IP address of the printer but fails with "cpap connect failed for printer". When I remove the DECPRINT services and enable MOP loading on my VAX the same printer loads successfully, both primary and secondary loads. I can then ping the same printer from the NT box. Can anyone help with this ? Colin 751 4062

Check the firmware on the Printer. Also, you'll get more help in the HUMANE::POSTCRIPT_PRINTING notesfile on PrintServer issues. dave |
