5983.0. "tz85 under NT4.0 support or not" by LEMAN::BLANCHUT () Tue May 06 1997 08:59

Hello,

I have a question about TZ85, is this tape supported on NT 4.0 ?
or does Digital provide a driver to support it under NT 4.0 ?
There was one for NT 3.51.

Thanks for answering.

    The dlttape.sys file for the TZ85 should be found on the NT4.0 cd

 I don't think the dlttape.sys file in NT 4.0 service
pack 2 (the one which supports the TZ89) supports
the TZ85 (grep of strings shows TZ86 through TZ89).

5983.3patch is not a solutionLEMAN::BLANCHUTFri May 09 1997 08:1817
Hello,

Thanks all for youre answers.
But, There is some troubbles with this tape, the ident string
waiting by the the dlttape.sys is not this one given by the
tape itself, if you patch the driver and insert the string
which is given by the tape tz85, and also stretch the timeout
set in the criver dlttape.sys, then you can bring this to a
working state.
It seems that the driver dlttape.sys ( NT 4.0 ) as some kind of
bug, and the tz85 is part of the HCL!!!!!
Well patch the driver is not a good solution because at the next
service pack you loose your patch.

Any ideas ?
Patrick

5983.4patch, patch again...LEMAN::BLANCHUTTue May 13 1997 08:3114
Hello,

It seems that nobody has any idea.

Well I found another way which should be more clewer from wy point
of view.
I got a nice but touchy program to patch the drive itself, given the
name TZ86, put back the original driver from NT 4.0. and.... IT WORKS
with the original driver.
That means, the TZ85 is not supported by NT 4.0 and dec do not give
any drivers to correct this problem. Maybe time for ipmt ???

Patrick

I think your IPMT would be closed without the
resolution you want. The TZ85 was EOLed quite
a while ago and I do not see the TZ85 in the NT
4.0 HCL (or any of the 3.51 HCLs I looked at either).

What HCL were you looking at which has the TZ85
listed?

	The answer is the TZ85 is NOT supported on any
version of Windows NT. I have an unsupported driver on
