Since the installation of AltaVista Private Extension I have a very strange behaviour on my PC. On every reboot or re-logon, I get a Explorer window for every top-level directory and a start of every top-level-directory program is performed. This ends up in ~50 Explorer windows and some CMD.EXE windows. I have absoluteley no clue where to look which part of NT initiates this. There's nothing special in the "startup" section of .../profiles/... There's noting in the "runonce" section in the registry. And, this did not go away after a de-installation of AltaVista PE. Also a re-installation did not correct the problem. Any idea? Where do I start looking further? BTW: I could install AltaVista PE on my home PC without any problem. Also some other PC's in the office installed it -> no problem. Thanks for any help! Manfred PS: I use NT 4.0 (build 1381) ServicePack 2

Well, nobody seems to be able to help! I even sent a note to "Ask the expert" in the AltaVista PE forum, but the "expert" did not answer. A entry to the AltaVista PE FAQ was not possible due to problems with the AltaVista WWW-server. I also sent mails to two AltaVista PE engineers. But they do not seem to care about their users ... The problem is still there. Manfred |
