Pls kindly advice if there is any logon validation differences between using a Win95 and WinNT client. Is it because LANMAN level differences?? Real case is that that one of our largest customer still using PATHWORKS v4 (PCSA) on the VAX server side but would like to use PW32 on NTv4.0 and PATHWORKS v4.1B on NTv3.51 for their clients. However, connection denied errors were found after the above changes; whereas originally using Win95 clients cause no problem. We suspect that may be logon validation differences between Win95 and WinNT. We have tested using PWRKv4.1B on NTv3.51 with PWRKv5.0c Alpha/VAX server without any errors and all user permission rights were perfectly fine. In fact, we should not test as it MUST be fine. But wondering if problem was caused by PWRKv4.1B for WINNTv3.51. Pls kindly advice. Best Selling, Eddy HK Tech Support [Posted by WWW Notes gateway]

did you also ask this over in one of the PATHWORKS conferences (I seem to remember a similar questino recently but don't recall if it was you or not)? If not, stop by noted::pwdoswinv5 where the v4 server is discussed (though LONG unsupported) - NT clients can connect to v4 servers with a number of restrictions, all having to do with security. |
