5971.0. "Can't connect to server any more - access denied." by GALVIA::JFEGAN (Joe Fegan@ilo) Thu May 01 1997 07:59

When I came in this morning I was suddenly unable to connect to shares on a
server I was using yesterday. Both server and workstation are in the same
domain and nothing has changed on either of them as far as I know. I have
looked through the permissions etc. and can't find anything amiss. I've been
using this server every day for months and it was working when I went home
last night.

I am prompted for a username/password when I try to open the server in
"Network neighborhood" although I am already logged into the domain. It
doesn't matter what I type in to this dialog I still get "access denied".
I can connect to other servers in the domain no problem.

It seems to be this particular workstation that the server has a problem
with because I can connect to this server using the same account from any
other workstation in the domain. From this workstation I can't connect to
the server no matter what account I log in to, including the domain
administrator's account.

Strangely enough, this server is our Exchange server and I can connect to
my Exchange mailbox from this workstation without a problem.

Any ideas?
Joe.

What network access are you using?

    Are you using Pathworks?

    No, standard NT TCP/IP.

Just to keep me on my toes it was still broken an hour ago but now it's
working again for no reason I can see. Let's hope it stays that way.
