5966.0. "INSTALL LPS20 OVER NT 4.0 USING TCP/IP" by IB004::DIEGOR (DRODRIGUEZ Tengo un puro) Tue Apr 29 1997 08:44

    Hi,
My problem is how to install a LPS20 printer in a WINDOWS NT 4.0
    machine, using
    TCP/IP.

I have defined all the parameters of the LPS20 driver that comes with
    the NT 4.0
CD(printer name, MAC address and the network details, such as the IP
    subnet mask
and the TCP/IP address) enabling the Soft-Loading and configuration and
installing the printserver files, at last.
However, the LPS20 can't boot and it only shows the MAC address and the
    ?54
    after the timeout expires.

    So, I wonder why...?

It could be the firmware of the LPS20 controller? Which I need?
Could I need another communication protocol?
            Could I need other software?
Could I need something which lets me connect the first time to
define the LPS20 how to load the software for booting?

    Thanks for all,
                                                    Sergi

P.D.:The customer has no VMS nor DEC-net.

5966.1Firmware and a Turbo controller is critical for NT bootingNECSC::HARVEYPrintserver Support- America's ZoneTue Apr 29 1997 09:3928
    Sergi,

Booting from Nt is a little different than booting the printer from
a unix platform. Because of these differences there is a firmware
requirement for the printers. The LPS20 needs to be a TurboLPS20 and
have at least 3.6 of the firmware.

To get the printers firmware data, power off the printer and watch
the LCD panel. When the printer displays the ethernet MAC address there
will be 3 sets of numbers displayed under the address. Thesse are the
    printers firmware revision data:

    	08-00-2B-xx-xx-xx
    	3.6 1.2 1.1
    	 ^
    	 |
The critical firmware revision for booting problems.

You might also get the latest Printserver Software from the WEB page:

Under the software/drivers section select the printserver software.
This will start the download of a 15.8MB self-extracting ZIP file.
Execute it with a "-d" option to create sub-directories.
