5932.0. "Server programs on workstation" by 60675::nessus.cao.dec.com::Mayne (A wretched hive of scum and villainy) Thu Apr 17 1997 18:31

I've copied some files from a Windows NT server to my workstation so I can do
administration from my desk. This works fine for User Manager for Domains, for
instance.

When I try and run WINS Administrator (WINSADMN.EXE), it can't find the DLL
LPADRDLL.DLL. Simple, I thought, I'll just copy that from the server as well.
Trouble is, I can't find it anywhere on the server system, but WINSADMN runs
fine there.

Why is it looking for LPADRDLL.DLL and whi isn't it needed on the server?

Use the setup kit that Microsoft supplies with Server. It adds
all the files needed for your Workstation to run all the Server tools.
(You still need to add the application pointers, though.) There is
    an internal copy in:

    \\undead.wro.dec.com\pcpublic\nt\srvtools\40

When I go to undead, I get a brief glimpse of the directory, and then the error

	Wro-misery is not accessible.
The list of servers for this workgoup is not currently available.

I'll hunt up our CD.

That's an awfully odd error to receive.

From the NT "DOS" command line shell... I just did:

    DIR \\undead.wro.dec.com\pcpublic\nt\srvtools\40

    And it's all there.
