5901.1 | Ask this in FX32 Notes Conf. | GREGOR::OPP | | Fri Apr 11 1997 05:56 | 8 |
| This question seems like it's better suited to the FX32 Notes
conference. I believe it's located at TALLIS::NOTES$LIBRARY:FX32.NOTE.
Also, check the FX!32 ReadMe file for the restrictions that affect
V1.1. In my experience, the ReadMe file does NOT list all the re-
strictions. So, perhaps, FrontPage belongs on the restricted list.

5901.2 | You should use native applications when they are available | axel.zko.dec.com::FOLEY | http://axel.zko.dec.com | Fri Apr 11 1997 08:11 | 13 |
| RE: .0
The FP97 extensions for Alpha are the SAME CODE as the FP97
extensions for x86. The x86 versions don't work well under
FX!32 (see the FX!32 notesfile for my experiences with them
before the Alpha version came out!).
What "result" is the customer seeing differently between the
FP97 extensions on Alpha and Intel? Is it the FP97 counter Bot?
If so, that should be recompiled for Alpha. The sources are
in the FP97 SDK on the FP97 client CD.

Frontpage Extensions DO NOT WORK AND ARE NOT SUPPORTED via FX!32.
You MUST get the native version for Alpha in order for it to work. The
Frontpage 97 CLIENT should work under FX!32, but not the Server Extensions.
The delay in getting the Alpha version is the usual delay since Microsoft
builds Intel versions first and only then the RISC versions. The delay
between the two was about two weeks.
I have no idea what you mean by the customer doubting why the 2 same
applications didn't five the same result. What result and what application?
The Alpha version of FrontPage 97 Server Extensions was built for Alpha just
like the Intel version. Is that a problem? None of this has to do with
FX!32. FX!32 will only support applications not yet ported to Alpha.

5901.4 | I mean the result i.e. | TLAV02::CHENSAK | | Tue Apr 15 1997 10:41 | 8 |
| Thanks for your answer. The "result" I meant is that ,first I installed
the FP97 extension for X86 on Alpha using FX32 ,it couldn't find the
IIS which installed on the server, it shows only Peer Web Server, so
the FP97 client cant' publish the web page on IIS web server. But when
I used the FP97 extension on Alpha, it can detect that this machine
installed the IIS. I will look for further info in FX32 notes.

None of this has really anything to do with FX!32. Use the Native Alpha
Extensions code on Alpha. End of story.
