5893.0. "Icons - black and white" by WOTVAX::HILTON (Save Water, drink beer) Wed Apr 09 1997 03:22

I've knackered my icons on my desktop under NT, they all appear black
and white, however if I right click and choose properties, the icon
    appears fine.

is there a way to repair these icons?

this is under NT 4.0 workstation.

5893.1Damaged icon cache?STAR::DZIEDZICTony Dziedzic - DTN 381-2438Wed Apr 09 1997 05:303
Try deleting the file ShellIconCache in your Windows directory
(e.g., \WINNT\ShellIconCache) - that should cause Explorer to
rebuild the icon cache when you next restart the computer.

That didn't make any difference. This occurs no matter which user I log
    in as.

I just re-ran the workstation setup and told it to repair my system,
but leave the registry alone, and the problem is still there!

Does this suggest something is dicky in the registry, and ideas where
    too look?

I do not know if this will work in your situation, but have you
tried Tweak UI/Repair/Rebuild Icons. This can be found from MS's
    PowerToy.exe located @:
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/software/powertoy.htm

Yeh, I tried TweakUI but it doesn't run native under Alpha NT, and also
    FX!32 can't hack it.

Any other suggestions? Anyplace in the registry I could look?
