5880.0. "Reentered...Problem with 4.0 and Office 97" by WRKSYS::RIBEYRE () Fri Apr 04 1997 13:17

I am having a problem with file association after installing
Office 97 on a Digital Personal Workstation [Kauai] running
WNT 4.0. I cannot launch a ppt file from Exchange or from
the Windows Explorer. I can access the same file through
the actual Powerpoint application, however. XLS and DOC files
work OK, but I also can't get hypertext files to launch.

Everything worked fine with Office 95...this problem is new
with Office 97.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks,

Is the Kauai an Alpha? (or is that the Miata?)

This is not probably not a problem for this notesfile,
but for the Office notesfile. Do other file associations
	work, like .TXT=Notepad.exe?

I'm sure Kauai is an Intel box and I think Miata is, too.

Shows how good our marketing is! Miata is the code name for the Digital
    Personal Workstation a-Series (433a, 500a, ...). Definitely uses
an Alpha CPU. The 767 MHz alpha shown at last fall's COMDEX was a
    chilled Miata.

Miata (Alpha) and Kauai (Intel) share many common components, including
    the box.

Sorry for the misinformation in .2... I had heard the name discussed
in PCBU project meetings and had (incorrectly) assumed that it couldn't
possibly be an Alpha box. ;-)

There doesn't appear to be one.

All of the separate programs have their own conference.
