5841.0. "Administrative shares under NT 4 - Policy Editor" by ROMEDU::NEBBIA (Mario Nebbia @RIO - Rome, Italy) Tue Mar 25 1997 08:42
Moving from NT 3.51 to NT 4.0 I noticed a different behaviour about
administrative shares:
- Under 3.51 each disk was assigned an administrative share (C$, D$ ...)
that could be eliminated and that was automatically re-created at
next boot;
- Under 4.0 Policy Editor allows saying if administrative tools are to
be created or not.
Is it correct?
I installed several NT 4.0 systems (all PDCs) and some look to create admin
share, others look to not crerate them. Is there a general rule? Up to now it
looks erratic to me, but I suppose a rule does exist...
Any ideas?
Suggestions, pointers and hints welcome!
Mario
