Another problem I seem to have: Windows NT 4.0 SP2 on a 486 66 w/ 32Meg of memory and the IBM AntiVirus 2.5.2. The IBM AntiVirus was actually put on almost 2 weeks ago after I had put up PATHWORKS 32. I got this message about 4 days after it was put on (on the boot when I get in in the morning): IBM AntiVirus Notification There are 1243 infected files referenced by the IBM AntiVirus database. It is recommended that you run IBM AntiVirus to take action on these files. If I run the AntiVirus right then and there I would get no viruses found yet I would get this message: Access UNC Viruses have found in these objects. Please map these UNC names to a drive and scan for viruses to clean up these files. The files would displayed as uninterpreted characters like this: ... yyy .. .. u |U|q|A ^ I did not do the select and remove of these files since I didn't know which ones they were. If I did run the AntiVirus manually I got no viruses found and didn't get the Access UNC with the files displayed as uninterpreted characters. After some deliberation at the customer site I pulled off PATHWORKS and then the AntiVirus. I re-installed the AntiVirus and it ran fine after the installation (that was on Monday). Yesterday I started to make a DOS bootable floppy and had the machine crashing and it rebooted fine. This morning I added the hotfix described in note 5818 (I think that's the number) and have been busy crashing and rebooting. I also upped my page file size as I got a message about insufficient virtual memory on boot. Then I went to re-boot again. That's when I got a message like above where 472 files are infected. It was about the time I had scheduled a daily run of the AntiVirus. I found the same symptoms. If I start the AntiVirus from the message displayed then it finds no viruses but does display the Access UNC with the files displayed as uninterpreted characters. If I do it manually no viruses are found and I don't get the Access UNC message. We were thinking there might be a conflict with the AntiVirus and PATHWORKS 32 -- now I don't think so. Anyone else seen anything like this? Anyone have any ideas as to what might be going on? Or where I can look for assistance? I did try the IBM AntiVirus web site and didn't see anything there (that was last week or earlier this week). Appreciating any assistance!

BTW, just now on another re-boot after the manual AntiVirus worked fine I got the IBM AntiVirus Notification message again about the 472 files... |
