I have a Compaq 5000 running Windows-NT Server 3.51 SP5 at a customer
site without Compaq's HAL. The customer is in the process of purchasing
a second CPU for this system to run in a SMP configuration.
Are there valid reasons to reinstall Windows-NT Server and the
Service PAK to support SMP ? Or can the program in the Resource
Kit which enables SMP be run with equally "good" results ?
Regards,
Ray

I've never seen any evidence that the UPTOMP program in the
resource kit knows anything about service packs that have been
installed... i.e. you'll get a bastardized combination of 1CPU SP5
bits and 2CPU noSP bits.
