I may have missed it, but I haven't been able to find the answer. Is there a limit to the number of NetBEUI sessions that can be openned on a given network card? I have a customer that is converting from OS/2 to NT. They said they had a limit of 256 connections on a token ring card. Since they are reducing the number of servers due to more powerful NT servers, they are afraid they will run into some kind of an artificial bottleneck that will not permit them to exploit the full capability of the more powerful servers. tgc

Please note that Windows NT Workstation will limit the number of NETBUI sessions to 10. However, Windows NT Server does not have that limit. Unfortunately I do not know what that practical limit is! Also the Windows NT Workstation license restricts you to 10 connections of any type but while enforcing it for NETBUI does not enforce it for TCP/IP. You will however, be in breach of the license if you exceed 10 TCP/IP based connections. Wayne | |||||

According to Microsoft's NT training material the 256 session limit "has been broken". Make of that what you will!! Jon. |
