5788.0. "What backup tape Drives would you recommend." by LAOSS1::UDICK (It can't be too easy to use ...) Sun Mar 09 1997 16:08

I am looking a harware backup solution for my home system.

What would you recommend. It doesn't have to be that fast, price is
    more of a consideration :^(

What about the ditto dirves or the sony drives.

    Thanks,

Check the Hardware Compatability list first -- I don't think the
the new 2GB Ditto or Sony driver are there. Most of the supported
drivers are 4mm, which are expensive. I bought an HP-Colorado
T3000, which is supported an relatively cheap -- a T1000 is even
    cheaper (100) and also supported.

Fast, reliable, convenient, inexpensive?

Buy a ~3 GB hard disk that you only use for "backup".
It will blow away any home-system tape solution.

If you want a tape drive on Windows NT, I suggest you
look at the HCL and SCSI interface drives only. Anything not on
the HCL will not work without custom drivers.
NOTE: the exact vendor and model number must be supported.
