Microsoft - Next version of Windows NT won't ship until 1998 {The Wall Street Journal, 3-Mar-97, p. B2} Microsoft told a group of software developers that it will ship the next version of its Windows NT operating system in early 1998 rather than this year, trade publication Computer Reseller News reported. What does that mean for 64-bit NT ?

>> What does that mean for 64-bit NT ? More elaborate replies are elswhere in this conference. Short reply is that NT 5.0 is not 64Bit NT, it just has a 64bit API for VLM applications. In fact the 64Bit API is not "virtual". When you run out of physical RAM you're done. - norm | |||||

You can also say that MS will not ship 'gold' V5 'til next year. Beta V5 with 64-bit support is shipping this calendar year. tgc |
