5769.0. "AS2000 5/250 old files" by VAXRIO::LORENA () Tue Mar 04 1997 04:48
Hello all,
My customer has a AlphaServer 2000 5/250. he received this machine with
WNT 3.51 installed (firmware 4.47), then he needed to upgrade to WNT 4.0:
He upgraded the firmware to 4.51. Now He needs to downgrade the WNT
(Oracle has many problems with WNT 4.0). He formated the disks and he
tryed to install the WNT 3.51 again, but when the HAL disk is inserted
he received the message: "SETUP COULD NOT LOADED HALL.DLL. SETUP COULD
NOT CONTINUE. ERROR CODE 7"
In this diskette there are two files .DLL : halgammp.dll and
halsabmp.dll.
I believe that we need the old HAL disquete or is it possible to do
downgrade the firmware ? If it is possible, we have a problem: the
customer did not receive the diskette with oldest firmware and HAL.
Are there some place in Internet/Intranet/Easynet with these old
files ?
Thanks in advance for your help and attention,
Regrads,
Lorena

| Make sure you are using the correct HAL diskette as you cannot use the
NT V4.0 HAL on NT V3.51 and vice versa.
The HAL kits are available on the web at http://www.windows.digital.com.
For NT V3.51, you can either use the HAL that is on the CD-ROM or the
updated HAL that is posted. The updated V3.51 HAL is available under the
AS2100A page instead of the AS2000 page.
The older rev of firmware are also available at
ftp://ftp.digital.com/pub/DEC/Alpha/firmware.

5769.2 | Use the ones on the CD-Rom | KERNEL::BELLAL | Alastair Bell | Wed Mar 05 1997 11:45 | 10 |
| I recently went through the same downgrade on the same machine for the
same reason. I used the HAL from the CD-Rom and it all worked a treat.
Don't forget about the video driver though.....
