5733.0. "NT driver for Canon BJC-610/620 printer" by BRITE::FYFE (Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without.) Fri Feb 21 1997 07:30

Any information on such a driver would be greatly appreciated.
Currently, the driver for the 600 is being used which seems only
to support 360x360dpi color and these printers support 720x720dpi color.

Drivers for Windows 95 work ok.

I've searched for the NT equivilent without success.

There is no driver, and the latest status I got from MS and
Cannon is that there will not be one by either of them. The
closest they got was a beta driver in RC1 which was removed
from the final product due to a hang issue.

A 3rd party product (Super Print) is supposedly going to
support the BJC-610/20 in their NT4.0 Offering (a complete
replacement for the NT Print subsystem or so I'm told).

A while ago a petition with tons of email sigs went to
cannon complaining about this problem (when I purchased
my 610, they told me the NT4 printer driver would be
shipping in 2-3 months - about a year later, they told
me (and everyone else) they were no longer planning on
that and "sorry for misleading you")

Cannon offers no refund or tradein program for anyone
who was mislead by the initial issue.

Some are still hopeful the driver will come out, but
most of us have given up (its been over a year now).

The issue seems to be tied up with WPS not being supported
on NT, and the 610/20 exclusively requiring WPS. Even
with the 600e driver, you have to keep hitting retry
to get the thing to finally print.

Hope this helps.
