5731.0. "Etherworks 3 and NT 4.0?" by STP01::STPVNV::stp01::voinov (Vladimir Voinov, MCS Russia) Fri Feb 21 1997 03:39

Hi, all,

Have anybody heard about the problems concerned with
Ehterworks 3 NICs and NT 4.0? The customer complains,
that sometimes after reboot (cold or warm) PC, running
NT 4.0, doesn't see the network. Affected PCs (1 DECpc XL 590
and 1 Venturis FX 5166) were upgraded from NT 3.51 and
use NIC drivers from 3.51 CD. There are, also, other
Ehterworks 3 adapters, which work properly, though those
two particular boards were fine for 3.51 too.

Unfortunately, I haven't got detailed info by the moment,
and just want to know about common issues. Besides,
why only Eherworks 3 drivers disappered from NT 4.0 CD?

Thanks&Regards,
Vladimir.

    #1 - you might check in the NOTED::ETHERWORKS conference

    Are you certain you got EWRK3 drivers from the NT 3.51 CD? I didn't
    think the ETHERWORKS 3 card drivers were ever provided in the NT kits.

    Fwiw, I've got a DEC PC (LPv+) with an ETHERWORKS-3 card
    in it. I've experienced the 'warm' reboot (i.e. hit the reset
    button) problem where the card won't work after an OS boots. But,
    I don't view it as peculiar to NT. I see the behavior no matter
    whether I bring up DOS,Win95, or NT. My 'explanation' is that
    the hardware gets 'jammed'. And, it *always* clears itself if
    I completely powerdown the machine for a few seconds.

5731.3Sorry, drivers are from floppy...STP01::STPVNV::stp01::voinovVladimir Voinov, MCS RussiaMon Feb 24 1997 00:3210
Bill,

Yes, I was wrong, drivers came from floppy, Version 2.50,
but the latest floppy (2.52, December 1996, taken from ftp server)
says nothing about NT 4.0 also... Hopefully, there is no difference
with 3.51 in this way. I'll try to check in Etherworks
conference.

Thanks,
Vladimir
