5723.1 | network shares? | MPOS01::mpo_dial1_port1.mpo.dec.com::mpos01.mpo.dec.com::cerling | I'[email protected]'.end | Thu Feb 20 1997 03:54 | 7 |

First thing I would check is how many network shares is the user
attached to. If Explorer just has to go to the local disks, it's
quick. If it has to go out an attach to several network shares,
it takes a while.

| This seems to happen with any user logging onto the server, and there are
probably only one or two shares involved (these shares will actually connect to
the "problem" server anyway).
Thanks,

Is there any resolution to this one ?
I have a Cyrix Clone running NTas 4.0 SP1 (at the moment)
When I log in on the VGA screen as administrator, takes 2-3 mins to
fully log in.Again,as previous notes,NT Explorer also takes 2-3
mins to come up.Control Panel seems slow, and My Computer. No Shares,
no Printers involved (to the best of my knowledge anyway)

| I had the explorer problem, but it came and went, at whim it appeared
and disappeared.
My wife uses a CD with clip-art (in a very shallow directory structure)
on it. It turned out that the CD was being scanned every time explorer
was fired up!
No CD, no problem (well few problems)
Jon.
