5720.0. "desperately seeking intel version of inetstp.inf" by DSNENG::KOLBE (Wicked Wench of the Web) Wed Feb 19 1997 14:07

To make a long story shot I have hosed my system. Even
trying to install from the server V4.0 CD fails for lack
of the file inetstp.inf. In desparation I copied the
entire inetsrv installation directory to a local disk
and put the inetstp.inf from the alpha install in place.

I now can complete the install but of course things
don't work because I had to click past numerous files
with an unable to open error. I believe if I can now
find the correct .inf I can fix this and get my internet
services functioning again. Can anybody help me? liesl

5720.1Try to del net cmpnts JHAXP::RODGERSWed Feb 19 1997 15:289
    I recently had probs with TCP/IP & ended up deleting everthing from the
    network installation, RPC, Server WS, RAS, etc etc. I then restarted
    and clicked the network icon in control panel. To my amazement, a
    'wizard' guided me throug the network install and all connections (ISP
    and Digital RAS) worked!!
    Could this solve the problem for you??
    If not, can where might I find the inetstp.inf? I'd be glad to mail it
    to you

My problem is the required file is missing from the CD version of the
V4.0 server installation. If you have the internet manager or peer web
services this file should be in winnt35(40)/system32/inetsrv/inetstp.inf
thanks, liesl

    I've packed INETSTP.INF (both i386 and alpha versions) from NT server
    4.0 in a zip file and placed it in
    tarkin::acad77:[lin.public]inetstp.zip. It'll be there until I receive
    confirmation that it has been received by Liesl.

    I zipped them for data integrity and for maintaining precise time
    stamps and file sizes.

    The files came from the {i386|alpha}\INETSRV directory from the server
    kit.

    Cheers,

    /Bill

5720.4finally resorted to a good cdDSNENG::KOLBEWicked Wench of the WebThu Feb 20 1997 09:374
Thanks for helping Bill. It turned out I had to get the physical
CD. I was installing from a network kit that was obviously broken.
After several attempts to munge things together I decided a clean
install from a known good source was a better idea. liesl
