5714.0. "Can't seek more than 2 Gig on NT?" by METALX::SWANSON (Victim of Changes) Tue Feb 18 1997 08:50
Hi,
I posted this question in NT-DEVELOPERS notesfile, but haven't gotten
a response there, so I'll ask here as well. Maybe somebody knows
the answer...
From what I have read (and tried) you can't seek more than 2 Gigabytes
on a disk due to a bug in NT.
I am using the SetFilePointer() function to perform the seek, and
using OpenFile() on "PhysicalDevice0" to get the handle.
Is there a patch that fixes this problem?
I'm surprised that I'm running into the problem even when trying to
seek 0 bytes from the end of the disk.
I am trying this on NT 4.0 AXP with service pak 1.
