5668.0. "How can I get NT to see my IDE controller ?" by 45862::16.194.208.3::sharkeya () Mon Feb 10 1997 14:36

I'm trying to install NT v4 on my PC.

It doesn't recognise (see) my IDE controller or my DE203 ethernet card. I
need IDE to get at the CD-Rom....... (I have SCSI disks)

I have a Pentium 200 in an Intel HX chipset m/board.

Anyone know where I can get drivers for either (or preferably both) the
above ? The IDE diskette that came with the m.board only covers (works)
with NT 3.51.

Thanks

Alan

5668.1How is this done under NT 45862::16.194.208.3::sharkeyaMon Feb 10 1997 23:4517
More info....

Under NT 3.51 you are supposed to:

3. From the Program Manager, double click on "Windows NT Setup" in the
    "Main" group.

4. Select "Options"|"Add\Remove SCSI Adapters" from the menu bar.

5. From the "SCSI Adapter Setup" dialog box, click on the "Add..." button
    to add a new driver.

How do you do this under NT 4 ?

regards
Alan

    How about Control Panel --> SCSI Adapters? It's still more that just
    SCSI; maybe one of these days they'll rename it to "disk adapters"?

    Yes, someone else pointed me there. I'm going to try that when I get
    home tomorrow.

5668.4it sort of works45862::16.194.208.3::sharkeyaWed Feb 12 1997 12:0411
And the answer is:

It worked - sort of. The oemsetup.inf that works with NT3.51 gave registry
errors but did install the s/w. I then went into the 'devices' section of
the control panel, found the PIIX device and set it to 'boot' and 'auto'.
Next reboot, my CD came back.....

The DE203 was easy. Pick up the kit from DEC and install.....
