I'm having a problem with an AlphaServer 2000 4/275. It is currently running Windows NT Server V4.0 SP2, V4.50-1 of the ARC and using the V4.0a hal from the network. When I try and set an auto-boot time via the control panel/system, the system will hang. After power-off and on, the NVRAM is corrupt and all is lost. I have tried re-loading the firmware, issuing a CLEAR_ARC_NVRAM etc etc. I can change things via the ARC at the console and this works fine, its only when I try and change things via NT. Before I try and replace the hardware, anyone any ideas ?? Pete

Replace the HAL with the one that is posted on http://www.windows.digital.com/support/sysoft.htp. When you update to SP2, it will update your HAL. The problem is caused by the HAL in SP2. This HAL is suppose to be the same as the one posted on the web but somehow, it is missing the fix for the NRAM update problem. This will be fixed in SP3. Scott | |||||
