5627.0. "tkz09 and nt4.0" by TROOA::GREENALL () Fri Jan 31 1997 10:09

Has anyone had any luck getting a tkz09 to work under NT4.0?

I've tried changing the dip switches, and using both the
    exabyte 8200, and 8500 drivers.

Always, the drivers tell me they cannot find the device.

Also, does anyone have a pointer to what the "difinitive" switch
settings are on the tkz09. I've looked at different notes in the
    magtape
conference and such, and have gotten conflicting answers.

I know it isn't supported, but any help would be appreciated.

I just finished a TKZ09 driver for Windows NT V4.0 Intel. If you want
to be a tester send me mail and I'll send you a pointer to the kit. I already
have one field test site that is up and running.

    TLZ09 or TKZ09? 2 different beasts....The TLZ is a 4mm DAT, and the TKZ
is an 8mm drive. Big difference.... And I think Steve's driver is
    really for the TLZ09.

Chris, I believe Steve really has a TKZ09 driver. I know the
    guy doing the field test.

It's hard to keep up with Steve. He cranks out those tape drivers much
too quickly. ...makes it look easy, which it may be for him. And he's
ever so willing to write more code to support more drives!

Yeah, but I should know better.... We talk every day at lunch...
Plus, he's working on a couple of new drives for us right now.

Sigh. I used to be able to remember everything we made. Must be getting
    old.

when will most of it be filled in?

What the difference between 'Driver Required' and
a driver found in a service pack? E.g. There is
a driver for the TZ89 in the NT 4.0 Service Pack 2,
should we be using something different?

When will most of it be filled in ?

I'm working on it in my spare time. I hope to complete
	most of it this week.

Driver required means an unsupported or Digital supported
driver is available. Service Pack x means there is a Microsoft
supported driver in the service pack. You should use Microsoft
	drivers if possible.

The TZ89 support is in SP2. I need to change the table.

wow, I thought getting a hold of a driver for a tkz09 was going
to be impossible (-:.. I really do have the 8MM version.

Anyways, I'll have a look at yourweb page today, adn give the
    driver a test.. thanks

5627.12no luckTROOA::GREENALLWed Feb 12 1997 08:0921
Well, I tried the driver, and had no luck with it.

I keep getting an error saying the driver cannot find the
    device.
I know the device is woring, as it will work from cheyenne backup
( which does not require a driver. I grabbed a demo version from
    their
        website)

I'm betting that I have a dip switch set to the wrong setting,
which is causing the tape drive to mis-identify itself. I have
    spent
days scouring notesfiles and such to try to find a note describing
the dip switch settings to no avail (manual was lost many, many
    moons
        ago)

            Does anyone have any ideas?

I have updated the TKZ09 driver on the web page to include
support for the TTI CTS-8510. NOTE: This is not a TKZ09.

The new driver worked like a charm.

BTW, the box has the tkz09 sticker on the back. might be a different
    rev of firmware.
